Don was born and raised in SW Saskatchewan. Prior to starting his career in the insurance industry, he worked several jobs from heavy equipment operating and truck driving to working in the oil and gas sector.
His insurance career started in 1992 when he attended and completed the Mount Royal Cooperative Insurance Work Program. There Don was able to learn and work in all areas of insurance from auto and property underwriting to claims adjusting. After working in all areas, Don chose to pursue the adjusting aspect of the industry due to his love of working with the public.
He completed his CIP designation in 1995 and continued with his FCIP courses. He started his career with the Wawanesa Mutual in Calgary and acquired his independent adjuster license in 1998. After moving back to Medicine Hat with his family, he started TMD Adjusters in January of 2003. Don has handled all types of claims including auto, property, liability, bodily injury, cargo, commercial, inland marine and environmental claims. He has worked several large catastrophes such as, the wild fires in Fort McMurray in 2016, Hurricane Harvey in Houston, TX in 2017, Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2018, and most recently at Hurricane Michael in Florida (October 2018). He has also handled several large hail and wind events for various insurers over the years.
Don continues to enjoy the Insurance Industry and is currently the SW advocate on the Southern Alberta Insurance Institute Board. He has taught all CIP courses and brought several peers through the CIP program.
